Solicitors do not enjoy a good reputation. We are generally considered, as a breed (and perhaps even as a “brand”), to be expensive and distinctly poor at client service. It’s a reputation many of us are working hard to overcome.
Our responsiveness (or lack thereof) is also something in which the Solicitors Regulatory Authority take an interest given that our code of conduct requires us to provide to our clients “a good standard of service”.
With the imminent advent of ABS into the legal environment, I’ve been trying to decide whether all the excitement and consternation and nervous anticipation is justified or not. It is entirely understandable, what with lawyers as a breed being rather averse to change – but are we worrying about something that is actually going to really impact upon how solicitors do business?
